Technical Analysis Defined

Research and examination of the market and securities as it relates to their supply and demand in the marketplace. The technician uses charts and computer programs to identify and project price trends. The analysis includes studying price movements and trading volumes to determine patterns such as Head and Shoulder Formations and W Formations. Other indicators include support and resistance levels, and moving averages. In contrast to fundamental analysis, technical analysis does not consider a corporation's financial data.

His devotees suffer through it to find the "secrets of the markets". However some have found success with him. He is clear about what drives market behavior: hope and fear. An advantage to looking at this man with an open mind. He practiced for a long period of time (died mid 1950s) through multiple bear and bull markets, recessions, depressions, and manias. He sold his courses during the depression for $5,000 ($300,000 our $).

Even if you buy the magazine at a newsstand, you still have to go online to get the full set of charts. These guys appear to be on the fringe of financial market research. They still revere the great traders of yesteryear. They seem terribly interested in cycles, and astrology. The great traders of yesteryear had something that most financial experts today do not have. A history of practicing their art over the course of multiple manias, recessions, depressions, and regular old bull and bear markets. Contrast this with todays bunch, most extremely young with no history of being wiped out at least once. Who have lived and grown to maturity over the course of the worlds longest bull market. Take a peek at these articles and then either check out at major newstand or subscribe to the online version.
